Meet Your Coaches

Monica Wood
Head Coach &
Owner of Tailored Fitness

Monica will guide athletes through the strength portion of the program, ensuring their form is on point. With years of experience coaching at various gyms in London and serving as the dry land coach for two Devilettes teams, Monica brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. A former wrestler at McMaster University for five years, she also holds a personal training certification from CanFitPro.

Emma Pais
Speed Coach &
Team Consultant

Emma leverages her track and field and cross-country background to support athletes with their speed and overall conditioning. Currently playing for Colgate University, Emma has also proudly represented Canada for the U18 and U22 National hockey teams. Her expertise in speed and plyometrics will help athletes gain the edge they need to excel.

What is the Summer Development Program?

Looking to maximize your athletic potential this summer? Our Summer Development Program is designed to help you build strength, speed, agility, and power, ensuring you are ready to perform at your best when the season begins. With a comprehensive 4-phase training structure, you will progressively develop essential athletic qualities while minimizing the risk of injury and burnout.

Program Overview​

 

Phase 1: Foundation (Weeks 1-4)
In the first phase, the focus is on building a strong athletic base. This includes foundational movements that enhance stability, balance, and muscle activation. By laying a solid foundation, you prepare your body for more advanced exercises while minimizing injury risk.

Phase 2: Strength & Power (Weeks 5-8)
This phase targets explosive power and maximal strength. You’ll learn to generate force quickly, enhancing your speed and agility. By developing strength and power, you’ll see improvements in overall athletic performance, including faster sprints and more dynamic movements.

Phase 3: Explosiveness & Speed (Weeks 9-12)
The focus shifts to converting strength into speed. This phase emphasizes fast-twitch muscle activation, plyometric drills, and sprint intervals. The goal is to improve acceleration, agility, and rapid changes in direction, ensuring you can outpace your competition.

Phase 4: Sport-Specific Conditioning (Weeks 13-16)
The final phase fine-tunes your agility, endurance, and power with sport-specific conditioning drills. This phase ensures you are in peak condition, ready to perform at your highest level when the season starts.
